Classification

The classification is based on the following criteria:

  1. Type - informative or imaginative;
  2. Category - subdivided according to style and / or genre.
  3. Subcategory - depends on the particular category as well as on the kind of source.
  4. Genre - not a classification but a descriptive feature.

Some of the categories are extended in compliance with the specifics of Bulgarian literary tradition:

  1. Mystery and Detective Fiction - besides these ones gangsters' stories and pulp fiction were included.
  2. Adventure (and Western) Fiction - As adventures stories are not a genre sufficiently represented in the original Bulgarian fiction, and western fiction does not present at all, these genres were replaced by fantasy fiction (as a kind of adventure stories with fantastic elements) and psychological thrillers.
